Akram Ben Khalifa Bouchiba
Akram Bouchiba, (of Amsterdam, with African roots) began his dance career ten years ago. Starting with Streetdance styles (including House), he was inspired to dive into many styles of dance - Afrohouse, Hip hop, Jazz and Contemporary at multiple studios (including Art & Entertainment Academy in Amsterdam, 5 O’Clock University of Art program, etc.).
While at the Academy, Akram was a part of their competition team, competing in multiple styles of dance in both large groups and solos. In 2013 he won the Dutch Championship 'Soneo' (All-around Dance Championship), and started his dance journey in Kizomba / Semba. Akram was honored to train in master classes and workshops with Mestre Petchu and Dino Da Cruz, and to compete in the Kizomba World Championship 'Africadancar', where, in 2014, he placed as runner up. He has had the opportunity to work and perform with famous musical artists such as Davido, C4pedro, Nelson Freitas, Marlies Dekkers, Atim and more.
From then on Akram began to perform and teach Afrodance and Kizomba / Semba in different kinds of events around the world, while always keeping his main goal of continuing to learn from every opportunity and person he meets. Nowadays he travels all around the world to share his knowledge and love for dance and music in these various dance styles.
- Akram now runs the biggest Afrodance Festival in Europe & is one of the most respected and coveted Afrodance teachers in the world.
- In addition to his school career, Akram is an avid teacher, performer & organizer.
"What inspires me most about this journey is the journey itself as opposed to a final destination. Meeting so many wonderful artists and intelligent people and being able to share an internationally and understood language of movement is absolutely fulfilling and rewarding."
